Abandon the idea that you are the doer of actions or the thinker of thoughts.

When all cravings have disappeared, that is liberation.

To destroy cravings : Look upon everything as Brahman (God) and Brahman alone.

Blocks to Liberation

From Abinavagupta’s Commentary on the Bhagavad Gita :

” It is said in the Shastras (Scriptures) “Even an initiated person doesn’t attain liberation if he is not free from anger etc.” ……..

“Threefold is the gate of this hell leading to the ruin of the soul : desire, anger and greed. Therefore, these three should be abandoned.”

True Whale Story

A beautiful yogini sent me this story – i had to pass it on ….

The Whale… If you read a recent front page story of the San Francisco Chronicle, youwould have read about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in a spiderweb of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps thatcaused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth. A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farallon Islands  (outside the Golden Gate ) and radioed an environmental group for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her. They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them, pushed them gently around as she was thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives. The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth said her eyes were following him the whole time, and he will never be the same. May you, and all those you love, be so blessed and fortunate to be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled from the things that are binding you. And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude. I pass this on to you, my friends in the same spirit.

Quote from Jnaneshwar’s Gita

Jnaneshwar’s Gita
Chapter 18 Verses 734 – 740

Similarly, when resolution is firm in the
mind, mental and other activities cease.

O, Arjuna, the knot, that binds the senses to
sense objects is easily loosened, and the ten
senses return to the womb of their mother,
the mind.

The prana ceases flowing up and down and,
bound together with the other vital forces,
it plunges into the sushumna nadi.

The mind is stripped of its garment of good
and evil desires, and sits silently in its nakedness
behind the pure intellect.

That royal resolution dismisses all the activities
of the mind, the senses, and the prana, and their
commerce with one another;

And with the skill of yogic practice, it confines
them all within the inner chamber of meditation.

There, resisting all bribery, it holds them captive
until it can deliver them into the hands of the
great ruler, the Self.
